A Synchrotron Self-Compton Code [Home]

Code Description

The code is a simple Synchrotron Self-Compton Code written by H. Krawczynski (Krawczynski et al. 2004). It assumes a spherical blob of radius R and uniform magnetic field B, moving with respect to the observer with the Doppler Factor delta which is filled with a homogeneous non-thermal electron population. The latter is described by a broken powerlaw with spectral index p=2 and p=3 (from dN/dE ~E^-p) below and above the "break energy", respectively. The code uses two models for the gamma-ray absorption by the extragalactic background light (Franceschini et al. 2008, Kneiske et al. 2002). The code computes the synchrotron and Inverse Compton emission, and corrects the emitted photon spectrum for Synchrotron Self-Absorption and internal absorption due to pair production processes. The code is a phaenomenological code which does not evolve the electron spectrum self-consistently.
